|Abstract||In this session, we will play a variety of games which were initially designed for actors. These are fun, active, and create a group dynamic in which everyone feels open to trying new things. Some activities are designed to foster friendly competition; you will be divided into teams and be set challenges to see who can finish first. There will also be problem-solving cards, topics for group debate, and opportunities for you to introduce yourself and really get to know the others in your class.|

|Abstract||In this session, we will be exploring a very important question: why do scientists need to think about ethics? We will start by looking at examples of when science has not be driven by – or has ignored – ethics, and the consequences this can have. We will then be considering different case studies (cloning, genetic enhancement, resource allocation), and we will respond to, discuss and debate the issues which arise from each.|

|Title||Why we know there are black-holes? Introduction to Einstein’s Relativity|
|Abstract||Einstein’s theories of relativity explain that our space and time can bend as trampoline. The theory predicts the possibility of time travel, the existence of black holes, and expansion of the Universe. The session picks up these three subjects: (1) delay of clocks in the rockets, (2) how we observe black holes, and (3) how we know the Universe is expanding. The lecture introduces the basic idea of physics (equation of motion, conservation laws), including its historical backgrounds.|

|Title||Relationship with human body and technology: A case of prosthetic leg for sports used in Paralympics|
|Abstract||This lecture aims to think how life would be with and without legs and to learn technology for solving the issues proposed by students. The workshop session gives opportunity to wear prosthetic leg for sports developing by Xiborg and to experience how difficult to run with it. Our final goal is to let students learn there would be possibility for disabled people to live like physically unimpaired or with more capability by sufficient technologies and skills to manage those. Additionally, we hope students will capture the future where disabled and elderly people around the world can live healthy.|

|Abstract||I would like to shear the world of “Rheology”, which is a branch of physics concerned with the flow and change of shape of matter. What is a difference between the flow of water or wind surrounding us and the blood flow in our bodies? This question allows us to see a unique world of Rheology. Interestingly, further study about “flow” and “deformation” lead us to the field of mechanical engineering coupled with medicine called Biomedical Engineering. I would like to introduce this field through my study about a computer simulation for microcirculatory blood flow. Also, we will discuss an importance of study about Biomedical Engineering, and get an insight into a question: where does mechanical engineering fit into the medical world?|

|Abstract||A field of “Biomedical Engineering” has been developed through an augment; where does mechanicsfit into the medical world? The framework of mechanics consists of physics and mathematics, and allows us to understand a force balance in a physical phenomenon. Especially, fluid phenomena such as stream and vortex can be formulated in the context of fluid mechanics. The concept of fluid mechanics can be well applied for circulatory blood flow, which is of eternal importance in physiological and pathological functions. Can we precisely predict the blood flow and behavior of circulating cells? This question provides further questions, for example, does the knowledge of circulatory blood flow allow us predict diseases or deaths? Computer simulation techniques are able to show us precise circulatory blood flow, and provide those debates. This lecture deals with fluid mechanics and computer simulation, and also highlights the question; where does mechanical engineering fit into the medical world?|

We will talk not only about what we know, but also about how we know it. An important part of this lecture will be an understanding of the role of observation, theory and experiment in modern physics and science in general.|

|Abstract||What makes us human? What makes us different from others animals? Elaborated tool use, ability to communicate via symbols and signs, abstract thinking, conceptual learning, intricate social relationships… to mention only few among many, all these cognitive traits for many year (if not always) have been attributed exclusively to us, human animals, assuming that we are the only living creatures capable for the aforementioned tricks due to our superior brain capabilities. But is this actually true? I am going to talk about “animal intelligence”. I hope that by the end of the lecture I will be able to convince you that we are not the only ones who see the world as we do and that human cognitive traits did not emerge from nothing but rather have been through a long evolutionary journey.|
