A special seminar to connect Japanese engineers working at NASA’s JPL online. All sessions will be held in English.
Dr. Yu Takahashi was fascinated by the Mars rover in his high school days, and when he entered university, he went to the United States to study and obtain his Ph.D.. What is the reality of graduate school life in the United States? What would a career at NASA be like?
Let’s get a sense of how to ‘navigate’ dreams and careers from the current navigation engineer involved in OSIRIS-REx, which is on a mission to “sample return” materials from asteroids, Juno, which is a Jupiter probe, and Europa Lander, which is a probe to land on Jupiter’s moon, Europa Lander.
Recommended for middle and high school students.

Born in 1986, in Tokyo. He flew to the U.S. for undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona in 2004 and went to graduate school at the University of Colorado in 2008, earning his Ph.D. in the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences in 2013. Since that year, he has been working as a navigation engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), working on actual satellite missions. He has been involved with the dwarf planet mission Dawn, the Jupiter mission Juno, the asteroid sample return OSIRIS-REx, and the Europa Lander.
1986年東京生まれ。2004年に渡米しアリゾナ大学にて学部留学。2008年よりコロラド大学に大学院進学し、2013年に航空宇宙学科で博士号取得。同年よりNASAのジェット推進研究所（JPL）にてナビゲーションエンジニアとして実際の衛星ミッションに関わる。準惑星ミッションDawn, 木星ミッションJuno, 小惑星サンプルリターンOSIRIS-REx, エウロパ着陸機Europa Landerに関わる。
