[Introduction]

In how many ways can you slice a bagel? Is it possible to comb a coconut? What is a Möbius strip? Can you take a stroll in your city crossing all bridges exactly once? How many orientable surfaces do exist?
Topology is a field of mathematics which answers all of these questions (and many more!). In topology we study geometric objects up to stretching, twisting and bending, and down to their most essential properties. In this workshop, we will go over some of the most famous results in two-dimensional topology with a hands-on approach. Rigorous proofs and/or further reading material will be provided upon request.
